Abu the Monkey

Meet Abu the monkey.

My mother's godsister adopted this little fellow about a year ago when he was just a baby. His mother was hit by a motorcycle when carrying him across a busy road to safety. Just before she got hit, she threw Abu so as to save her baby from the same fate.

Abu is the cutest little monkey EVER! He can shake hands, and when visitors are there he likes to jump around and show off by doing backflips. While he was a baby, he was fed milk three times a day from a baby bottle and to this day, till maintains a well cared for diet. My mother's godsister said that he only eats fresh bread and fruit because they're scared if he eats meat, he will have cravings and become violent - which makes sense to me.

He lives all alone with a collar around his neck outside under a traditional Malaysian stilt house. He has no friends and does not communicate with other monkeys. He has one Eeyore as his only companion. Abu is taken absolutely everywhere and wears dipers when he goes out.

But the saddest thing about Abu is his eyes. My mother's godsister says that when you look into his eyes, you can see that he went through a lot of pain while watching his mother die right in front of him and til this day, the sadness is still visible in his small, shiny eyes.
